Does anyone know anything about Bögensee?

So at the head of the River Bögen in the Grey Mountains, the latest Reikland map has a lake and town called Bögensee. It's not in the Gazetteer in Sigmar's Heirs and Google hasn't helped me further.

Is there anything official about it at all?

I don't have all the latest releases from C7, so maybe I've missed something.

Pretty sure it's new, really.

It was on Andy Laws map back in 2010. Where did he get it? It's possible that it's from some story or background fluff. You know - it could be just mentioned on somewhere.

But seems pretty large place considering its very dead-end and remote location. Maybe mining?

And if you look real carefully from the new C7 Reikland map, it looks like there is a some type of large tower on the other side of the lake... Maybe some small settlement on the shore on same side.

Huh. So there is. Thanks for pointing that out. You reminded me that had a hi-res pdf of the map as part of the starter kit. There are also a bunch of settlements between the Bögensee and Castle Drachenfels, which is good because that's exactly where I was going to place a scenario I've been considering (hence the question in this thread and my concern that area might already have been used).

Is there nothing on Bögensee in the new TEW volume? I know it expands 1e's info on Bögenhafen itself, but does it cover the river too?

Actually there is something in the Enemy in Shadows. Quote from Temple of Bögenauer (patron deity of Bögenhafen) in Bögenhafen:
"There is no priest at the temple, but on festival days priests of the Cult of Bögenauer travel from Bögensee (a small town near the source of the River Bögen in the Grey Mountains) to officiate over ceremonial celebrations. The temple is maintained through donations of time and money from the local guilds, each responsible for the upkeep of the shrine or shrines most relevant to their members. Thus, an implicit contest is in place, whereby rival guilds seek to outdo one another with the ostentatious displays of wealth by their respective shrines."

It seems crazy to me that there would be a temple with no permanent priest assigned to it, but maybe that's an odd quirk of the Cult of Bögenauer.

I don't know if it's that crazy, at least in the sense that it's not necessarily something unusual for a temple or shrine in out of the way places. Small structures set up around a natural spring wouldn't need maintenance if they were made of some types of stone, and they might be open to attack if they are out of the way enough. However, this is a place that rich people and organisations are spending a lot of money on so i would have thought there would be some protection. I guess it might depend what they are spending the money on.

no priest doesn't mean "nobody there", it may simply mean that there's not enough lay priests of that cult around to have one server there full-time instead of serving part of the year and traveling the rest of the time.

Fair enough. I guess to me a temple is somewhere people go to worship (rather than just pray or make offerings), which in my mind involves a priest. On reflection I suppose that's not necessarily the case. But I do wonder what activities actually happen at the Bögenhafen temple and what they involve. Not saying that as a criticism though. Maybe we'll get more information in the Enemy in Shadows Companion.

probably not much. you only need a few low level attendants to clean up and take donations and such if the cult isn't one of those "lenghty sermons are key" types.

As usual I have probably overthought things, which is why it's good to get other people opinions.
