Re: WHFR 4e - Are Wizards playable?
i need to stop assuming people understand when i let the context sit implied, it's a bad and honestly dumb habit of mine. i meant that a wizard can't use all their spells in normal gameplay without either being made useless by building the requisite CN (and therefore taking so long that the combat i...

Re: WHFR 4e - Are Wizards playable?
So... it’s been a while since my first post. Has anyone come up with a reasonably simple and effective way to fix magic? It’s not just a matter of mages being weak. The current rules force a mage to focus on depth instead of breadth, to be able to survive. The result being mages that are, perhaps, ...

Re: Imperial Calendar
i honestly always ignored the imperial calendar, as i assumed very few people were literate enough to track these things in a chart as opposed to "Feeling" the right time for harvests and such and the listed calendar was the domain of out of touch academics that stupidly think "well, ...

Re: Dual Wielder talent analysis
again, there's certainly room for talents doing the same thing different ways, i simply feel that ir risks entering "use dual wield only if you can't afford a smith to make your weapon of choice with the fast talent" which is a poor direction to take it and the appeal should be the focus....

Re: Dual Wielder talent analysis
okay, after some consideration i fully agree that i've written the trait with too much oomph in the name of ensuring it does what i need it to do. given the way 4th works i don't intend to apply restrictions on how you use your attacks as i want the option of attacking (and therefore engaging) more ...

Re: Dual Wielder talent analysis
Zapp's version is also a more complex riposte talent that doesn't require a fast weapon. Which is fine, but kind of redundant. that said, it is a bit hard to parse what the riposte talent does.

Re: Dual Wielder talent analysis
Forewarning: i was a participant in one of those rare groups where the adventurers would be periodically transferred over to warhammer fantasy battles as part of a game or three, so my experience is flavored by the requirement that dual-wielding needed to be cohesive with the tabletop. the whole thi...

Re: Opposed tests vs single test
I feel we need a better way to rule what happens when someone is using a shield to oppose a ranged attack. Let me know your thoughts! I would simply allow the character to choose whether to use this property of the shield. If your skill is effectively lower than 50%, simply don't make the Test into...

Re: Melee (Parry) and Shields
In all honestly, my plan for dealing with shields was making parry a separate matter from melee skills entirely making the off-hand penalty moot and avoid the way WS is so overpowered in 4th's melee system. the gist of it was: -Parry is separated from the melee specializations, moves to its own skil...

Re: Melee (Parry) and Shields
off-hand penalties don't make any sense to begin with in the current system- there's no advantage to it besides gaining benefits of traits from a different weapon (like a shield) and there's no reason why you'd need to inflict a penalty to attacks for it when you only have the one attack to begin w...

Re: Opposed tests vs single test
everyone has felt this so far, and i've seen maybe a dozen different approaches, not including my own ideas. shields are gonna be quite the debate topic for 4th's entire run.

Re: Opposed tests vs single test
You've misunderstood something, but only because the talent is poorly worded. Fast hands means Bystanders do not normally get to oppose your roll. the target still gets any opposed roll, meaning you can't pick someone's pocket and be assured they won't happen to back into your hand and catch you. Ca...

Re: WHFR 4e - Are Wizards playable?
Most every talent gives you a bonus success level on a related test, in this case channeling. It makes it very easy to pass tests by huge margins after some leveling.

okay, i had some time to tweek the abridged PDF and fixed a few things (like those blank pages....) and changed the link in the first post to link to it. there's not really anything new, but if you haven't downloaded it yet, here it is.

Re: Fear and Loathing in 4th Edition
More and more I'm giving up on this game, thinking of the sentiment somebody got from the social media I don't frequent, where the devs are said to come across as using the rules as guidelines only, rules to be ignored whenever they don't work. :x that wasn't sentiment, when i was still in the disc...

Re: Fear and Loathing in 4th Edition
i just don't like the concept of preset "conditions" to begin with. fear and terror being slapped in that box just caused them to suffer the limitations of it without any advantage besides mechanically being able to turn it into a card or other token which isn't all that conductive to role...

Re: The hidden daemons of the mists: A treatise on the history, biology and society of the Fimir
As it looks like i've hit a roadblock on completing my full (and admittedly massive) description of the Fimir's social and ecological placement in the old world i've made a cut-down version for easy digestion for people to play with in the meantime. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ahGw0ucmNaoX54Kp...
