Probably not if you're on the same side. If you Overcast it, you may be able to pretend it's Bolt instead, though.

Re: WHFR 4e - Are Wizards playable?
Hi All. Brand new to 4e (30 years ago played 1e). Just read the magic section and like most was a little surprised by both the limited selection printed (yes I know as a GM I can make any spell up I want) and the high CN and time taken of non petty magic. Some great comments and suggestions in this...

Re: Solutions to Whiffing
I was also thinking of introducing opposed rolls, but it seems counterintuitive. The whiff-feeling occurs from the low share of successes (or impactful results) on the overall number of rolls. Opposed rolls just double the amount of rolls, unless you rule that also failed rolls (i.e. above your WS)...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
Interestingly, Andy Law's fix for Advantage is a fixed +10 to whoever's winning. Andy Leask's is just to always use Fast SLs, since it caps mods and Damage. I'm thinking of doing this when I eventually get around to starting up a campaign. I was originally thinking of just using the alternative rul...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
Don't hate me for what I'm about to say but since people are already talking about alternative systems.. I did run Zweihander and my players loved it. I started with 4ed and we played the starter adventure plus a couple from the Ubersreik Avdentures. They loved the feel of the Old World ( I give a ...

Re: Again a question about spells
Probably yes, if they have a duration beyond Instant. If they're a one-time effect, they're cast and done.

Re: Size question
In theory, you could give Big to a Halfling to make a Size (Medium) Halfling instead of a Small (Size) Halfling. Does that make sense? Not Quite. A Size (Medium) Halfling is a Size (Medium) Halfling. Big is completely separate from Size. As the trait says, it is a large example of it's species, an ...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
I've been doing a simplified rules system myself. There's a gap that Brigandyne can't fill until it's translated. That said, we've been playing several times a week over lockdown (more than 26 sessions) and have been fine with everything except whiff early on in non-opposed Tests and the vast number...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
Hi, I am new to the boards (or indeed, any WFRP boards). I have been playing WFRP since the late 1990s, as a GM I have led the first two TEW instalments and a couple of published adventures as well as my own campaign - and we also started Dying of the Light - in 1e. We later switched to 2e, but I w...

Re: Lowering Teir
If I purposely lower my teir, say from 2 to 1, for what ever reason, when I'm ready to go back to teir 2, do I need to pay for all the requirements again? Or just the cost to go to next teir? Just the cost to go to the next tier. Career level requirements are absolute anyway. Say you already have +...

Re: Size question
Another newbie question: When using the monsters in the rulebook, do I ADD the 10 S and T and DEDUCT the 5 Ag from the stats of creatures with the Large trait (fx Trolls, page 324). Or are the stats already adjusted to the creature's traits? Fx do a troll (on page 324) have 55 S or does it actually...

Re: 2nd -> 4th ed. preparation.
So movement using minis. Core Book, page 165. "Moving during combat" "The Movement Table shows how many yards you can normally move in a single turn, either Walking or Running ..." Above it states that you can normally move 4 squares(8yards). - This got us confused. So as a play...

Hello :-) I just bought the 4th edition core rulebook and got some questions. For the last years I have be GM’ing for a group of players using 2nd edition. They how just entered there 3rd careers At the moment I am reading the new rules and trying out some test-encounters, converting 2nd to 4th edi...

Re: Questions on magic rules and mutations
So in 2e, Night's Dark Masters explicitly says that trappings transform with you (though this is for Blood Gifts rather than spells). If you're looking for precedent, you could go with that. As for Wounds, I would rule that the bear would turn back into a human with 12 Wounds left. The extra bulk of...
