Re: Rules - Shield use
If you’re using Melee (Basic), you probably won’t want to defend with the shield unless you’re not wearing any armour, unless you get Ambidextrous. Melee (Parry) is an option, but it’s harder to pick up than Melee (Basic), and the weapons harder to come by. Remember that a combat character can start...

Re: Enemy in Shadows - Missing text?
They seem to pay attention to discussion on the Ratcatcher’s Guild (Discord) and probably Facebook. Certainly DotR is going to get an increase in difficulty due to the feedback to the pdf release.

Re: It's your funeral
I grabbed it the other day. I've only read through The Garden Morr section, which was a little useful. The map of the cemetery is not bad. In a medieval city I would not expect such neatly squarish plots of land... and such low grave density outside of nobles' sectors either. Also depicting a coupl...

Re: unbalanced races
I don’t understand how you’re getting such a power discrepancy between elf and human characters, unless they’re different careers. The difference is 10% on most tests, and the humans get fortune and resolve. IME there really isn’t much of a difference. This is unfortunately a common misconception a...

Re: unbalanced races
I'm not sure if I have a fixation on levels and stats etc. as I've been GM for diceless Cthulhu stories just next to Bolt Action tabletop war games. I like both of those gameplay types, but when we choose a system it's like a common agreement within the team, what we expect from the game. Sorry, bu...

Re: Enemy In Shadows Companion Available
Someone asked on the Facebook group, and someone from C7 said it was coming as a download. No timeframe though.FasterThanJesus wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 6:23 amThanks for the info!
Where did you find out? Also, do you know what the timeframe is?

The pregens will be coming as a separate download, apparently.

Re: Channeling VS Channeling (Any Colour)
Yeah, Channelling (no specialisation) is used by Witches and the like. You need a separate Channelling (Colour) skill as a wizard.

Re: unbalanced races
habdankm +1. You're right on spot. Elves are unbalanced. Resiliencee, Fate, Endeavour and Social stigma aren't enough to square things out. RAW, the elves are a race for munchkins players. The best way to deal with them is to keep them as for a NPC race or to tweak their facials bonus to make them ...

Re: unbalanced races
Hasn’t happened in my campaign yet, but I’ll probably give the new character 80 or 90% of the group xp. If something like Dooming applies, I’ll grant 130-140%.

Re: unbalanced races
Habdankm, you’re underestimating the importance of Fate/fortune, Resilience/resolve, and overestimating the importance of the characteristics. It’s really not a problem.

I can’t see how it’s easier to ignore if provided than to just choose one as appropriate to your campaign. I don’t see the benefit.

Re: Enemy in Shadows: Thoughts and reactions
I think it’s better for campaigns not to mention dates at all, unless timing is critical to the plot (set at a certain time of year, or over a specific timespan), which isn’t the case with TEW.

Re: Enemy in Shadows: Thoughts and reactions
If I was writing the campaign, I’d specifically avoid mentioning dates. If I was editing it, I’d be sure to remove them. The problem is that there are dates mentioned. The handouts refer to Jahrdrung amd Mitterfruhl, and they only work with the adventure as written if you use a start date of 24 Jah...

Re: Enemy in Shadows: Thoughts and reactions
But what would be the point? I don’t see what it adds to the campaign, other than an irritant for all the GMs who have to change the date? If I was writing the campaign, I’d specifically avoid mentioning dates. If I was editing it, I’d be sure to remove them.

Re: Enemy in Shadows: Thoughts and reactions
Problem with dates is that you’re supposed to be able to slot other adventures as you like. There’s not much point having a start date as it’ll be different for every campaign.

Re: Enemy in Shadows: Thoughts and reactions
My guess re the crossed pines is that someone realised that when you added the furniture, the ‘bar’ area was clearly tiny, so needed to be expanded. Hence the removal of the backroom/servery.

Based on what a dev said about this, the +2SL entry is supposed to be an overcast option.
