Re: Simplified resolution system
4th edition switches to opposed rolls. That alone fixes a lot of whiff. It does also introduce the potential problem of lopsided contests. Any character pouring experience into Fellowship, for instance, will quickly realize a score of maybe 75% Fel yields almost supernatural dominance of his haples...

Re: Changing weapons in combat
Here's how I do it. To draw a new weapon *and drop your previous weapon on the ground* is a free action. But, QED, that means your previous weapon is... ...on the ground. To pick up and ready a weapon from the ground is a regular action. To sheathe/stow your old weapon before drawing the new one is...

Changing weapons in combat
Is this a fast action? Drawing a weapon is, but I can't seem to find this in the book.

Re: Errata Update
If you use fast SLs, you'll usually be limited to +9 damage from the hit roll (some Talents give more), so that's one way to course correct. Also, elephants have huge numbers of Wounds, so it will probably be fine.
We just use the 10%, though, even when ranged.
ETA: Didn't see page 2. D'oh!

Andy Law's house rules
Andy Law's various house rules have been published on his Lawhammer Blog. He's revised the Characteristics (down to 8, the number of Chaos), to Skills (there's a new type, Learned Skills), to Careers (which looks way too fiddly for me). Characteristics: https://lawhammer.blogspot.com/2019/12/happy-b...

Re: Removing advantage from the game?
I've just read this Word of God post (indirectly from Andy Law): https://www.reddit.com/r/warhammerfantasyrpg/comments/eqifud/comment/feuple5 Basically, if you want advantage to work, it's supposed to be used with fast SLs. That way, advantage doesn't increase damage, only chance of hitting, and you...

Re: Simplified resolution system
I am in the situation of playing with D&D 5e rules. I have put a few thoughts into how to play in the old world with D&D rules. Also I thought of converting WFRP stats to D&D. What you describe is very familiar, except for using a d10 instead of a d20. Yes, I think there are clear simil...

Re: Simplified resolution system
I originally wrote 10 for the TN but since WFRP4e gives +20% on average rolls, I figured reducing the basic TN to 8 would be simpler. I'm trying to reduce the need for too many mods. A Bonus of 2 means you'd have to roll 6+ to succeed (50%), whereas a 3 means you'd have to roll 5+ (60%) and a 4 mean...

Simplified resolution system
So it's no surprise that many people who enjoy Warhammer 4e still complain about its fiddliness. But it feels like the fiddly bits are mainly there to balance whiff. It got me thinking about alternative rules systems that would involve minimal changes to written material and minimal conversion, but ...

Re: Removing advantage from the game?
I, too, have considered how to remove Advantage or at least lessen its impact. We've not yet put it into practice, though, as we've tweaked the way we run combat instead and it's finally working as it's supposed to. That said, there's still a lot of fiddliness with multiple modifiers (range, size, t...
