Re: Halfling Size

Yes, the system as-written as very much intended for you to apply all those damage bonuses to halflings (but not goblins, who are the same height for some reason but are still medium) because they were very excited to have size rules and wanted them to be part of regular play. I just pushed them &qu...

Re: Mapping Grenzstadt (WIP - feedback wanted)

given the location and the severity of risk there, i don't think it would be too wealthy- materials for most craft goods would be at a premium and the taxes would be too high. it would be a shipping town if anything, people would use it as a place to resupply and rest their caravans before heading o...

Re: Starter Set complete character profile

it's possible they wanted to give an example of how characters should ideally be developed, but from what i've seen out of cubicle 7 i'm assuming it was arbitrary.

Re: Mapping Grenzstadt (WIP - feedback wanted)

a guild market is i believe a market run by the guild(s)- essentially a shopping mall, rather than them jockying for stall space they have established shops all combined for convienance's sake. a useful way to get your products in line so wealthy customers will buy from you and your allied guild bud...

Simply can't see the influence, is all- it's far from the first time someone made a roleplaying campaign around something other than a dungeon crawl.

Re: Mapping Grenzstadt (WIP - feedback wanted)

if memory serves, the pass itself is massive- far too large for even a large city to effectively blockade. it's more likely that the town is built higher up, in the hills where the high walls are supported by solid stone foundations to prevent tunneling and use the vantage point to both assail armie...

Re: The Enemy Within to come...

really, warhammer's charm as a setting is partly from the dissonence between things, you can have an army of advanced war machines and air support steamrolled by a bunch of green hoolagins because they were yellin' REAL loud, and a nobleman might be a master diplomat but also insists on wearing a ha...

Re: Origins of the Gods.

Regarding the Lovecraftian influence on Warhammer's Chaos, I'd say it's mostly indirect - by way of the Call of Cthulhu RPG, mostly. Shadows Over Bogenhafen, which became an extremely influential and tone-setting WFRP adventure- ...what? like, seriously, what? it bored everyone to tears whenever an...

Re: Origins of the Gods.

things are a little more complex for the non-human races. the elven gods are essentially all representations of aspects of the elven psyche (yes, even the elves' gods exist to reflect how great the elves see themselves). I admit that I have a bit forgot how it worked, since I leaved Warhammer books...

okay, so just visual cues like i've been saying the whole time. thanks, i was wondering if maybe i was unaware of some bit of lore that got obfuscated.

Re: Origins of the Gods.

-The chaos gods seem to me to be based on Cthulhu mythos spliced with Christian apocolyptic ideas. Sorry to bother, but could you explain this? I've heard this for years but as (too) much as i've read lovecraft's works never once has any parallels in their actions or motives come across. Is this ju...

Re: Origins of the Gods.

1: what makes a god in warhammer is intentionally unclear. this isn't a bad thing, but if you're trying to establish where the line is it can be a bit frustrating. the lazy version i've worked with (mostly to slam the door in the face of that one guy that tries to ascend to god-status in every RPG s...

Re: Post-TEW plans

OP made it sound like it's meant to follow TEW, which honestly baffles me because that's already a nightmarishly long and railroady campaign. i can't imagine anyone wanting to continue their characters from that point, since you're now all major political figures.

Re: Wizard \ Magic related questions (new player)

Thanks about Petty Magic Clarification, makes much more sense to me now -Necromancy is a dark lore, and is intended for NPCs. if the GM wants he can let you learn it anyways, and the rules explictly state you can learn an arcane lore AND a dark lore. -The dark lores are only stop-gaps for the GM to...

-You can't channel petty magic (partly because the casting number is always 0, which makes channeling moot) -Yes, you memorize all petty mgic, there are none in the grimore. -Learning new spell costs are a little poorly explained, so i'll try to simplify it for you. When you take the petty magic fea...

rykof seems to have gotten the enthusiasm down so i'll just add in this little suggestion- magic in warhammer is an inborn talent, rather than simply an acquired skill and shouldn't be simply handed about. i'd suggest that if he's getting close to the XP he needs to make the switch to make a quickie...

There hasn't been anything offical set in them, to the best of my knowledge. that said, i've never been very up to date on homebrew (honestly thought WFRP was a dead system when i got into it!) so i wouldn't give up hope just yet.

Re: Undead (vampires) in Old World

i think places the undead frequent are more of a "we cater to an exclusive clientle" sorta deal and just don't let anyone they don't already know (to be users of the dark arts) in" most of the time. it's less of a publicly advertised thing and more vampires bring more of their kind in...
