Re: New Group - Suggestions for One Shot

while i haven't run it , cubicle 7 released a very short campaign "eye for an eye" for free download you can probably look into. also if you have access to them, many 2nd edition books tended to have a quick adventure in them. they're usually designed to be a BIT longer than a one-shot but...

Re: Why I think combat is less exciting in v4

While you aren't wrong, that's really a symptom of the problem- which is that the contested rolls are painfully swingy. Due to the way they built the system even a small advantage is quicklu overwhelming due to both the SLs system and the nature of single-die rolloffs. The result is either the GM le...

Re: Looking for RP-input on daily-life-behaviour of Sigmarian Warrior Priest

nothing saying a warrior priest can't get lynched for being caught pawning off artifacts instead of providing for the poor through donating to the local temple. it's not like the watch is going to get into the way of an angry mob to help a big man like him, just arrest anyone killing people with a b...

Re: Arcane Colleges of Altdorf - Help me reconcile

The colleges are the only place were you can be lisanced to use magic throughout the empire, but various nobles have the authority to permit a magic user to operate in their lands. These permits.....wouldn't be AS effective at protecting you from witch hunters, but it would allow for smaller schools...

Re: Casting - gestures?

Rules as written, no movent is required in any sense. Regardless of the requirements in lore, the game mechanics treat casting a spell as having the same requirements as blathering- you only need to be able to open your mouth and let nonsense flow out of it. The prone condition does nothing to restr...

Re: Shieldsman Vs riposte

the person initiating the attack is the attacker, and their target is the defender. the attackers using the shield gets no bonus from their shieldsman talent, and (presumably) suffers damage from their target's defense as a result of the riposte talent. the rest of the table is allowed to point and ...

As that's several people working towards a single task that would fall under assistance, page 155. everyone is aiding in the counterspell, but there's still only the one roll.

Re: Memorizing spells

No, you do not in fact have any requirement to learn spells at all (beyond the ones you get as a bonus with the petty magick talent) to become the highest rankign wizard. so you can easily end up with the patriatch of the jade college being an overly enthusiastic animal breeder that believes the can...

Re: Room and Board prices

that really varies for me, based on what they claim they're expecting from an inn, what the group looks like, and what i think i can sucker the players into losing. :3c a large part of what i think makes warhammer warhammer is the bastard sales approach and nuln is probably full of overpriced inns w...

Re: Fit Ogres Vs Fat Ogres

i think most of it is that Ao$ isn't fantasy and most/all of the factions are at least partly different from the ones we know. it's reasonable to assume that the maw did not survive, so the ogres aren't as driven to eat. that said, ogres weren't massively fat until 6th ed FWB, so skinnier ogres migh...

Re: A few questions.

okay, so the deal with elves is they CAN learn more than one lore canonically, but they don't get to learn a second lore until they've mastered the first, and so on. which means practically they aren't likely to have multiple lores as a player character unless you're throwing around a LOT of XP.

Re: Old World Medicinals

i think ungents/salves and smokables are both possible (the empire is definately a place that would have yo do opium for your toothache), as well as elixirs of dubious origins. really i think the only diffference between lotions and ungents is thickness.

Re: Old World Religion

given that the empire's legal system is a hodge-podge of fuedalism, imperialism, and everything else awkwardly knitted together to keep the first two together while still playing nicely with each other, it's quite possible verenian priests tendsto apply a lot of hindsight and points out how laws fai...

Re: Sigmar's hammer, Ulric's axe, Verena's sword

I disagree. A term ”warhammer” in the Miracle is a generic term and not the Game Term (definition on page 7) since it’s written with small letters. Warhammer as the 2-Handed weapon is the Game Term. That means any warhammer can be used in that Miracle, one-handed , two handed , mounted or not. Same...

Eh, just get the GM to roll with handling the torture/fire stuff "off-camera" instead of acting it out. i do that all the time to move the game along.

Re: Torture And Burn

it's not explictly required, but the order prefers you risk killing an innocent than let a guilt one go free because of misguided mercy. if you have reason to suspect they're a witch or servent of the dark powers, you should kill them or torture them to prove their innocence. let too many cultists f...

Re: Sigmar's hammer, Ulric's axe, Verena's sword

the invocations do not specifiy that it's listed as the weapon in the equipment list but that it's called that weapon, so a travelling hatchet, woodcutter's axe or Orc's choppa would count as an axe for the purposes of ulric's requirement. similerly, rapiers are considered swords, but a main gauche ...

as you said, it's page 164. the last bullet point states "if you wound an opponent without engaging in an Opposed Test, gain +1 Advantage." both mundane and magical projectiles fall under this rule.

Re: In fighting rules

he is entirely correct, the talent only addresses the optional rules mentioned regarding range, and none of the modifiers enter play elsewhere in the book (in fact they're not even mentioned regarding unarmed combat, meaning you can bareknuckle your way through a pikeline without those rules!)
