Re: Riding hell for leather, possible house rules?
After searching the boxes of books i don't check anymore (and clearing more dust than i expected) i have to concede i don't have the book with rules for pushing horses i remembered. i'll float the question to a few friends, but i'm gonna assume they don't have it since most of them sold any books th...

Re: Riding hell for leather, possible house rules?
A good question! i remember poaching rules for this off a western-setting RPG when it came up once, but i don't know if there's anything official for WFRP. i'll see if that book is in my storage later and give you the broad rules if i find it.

Re: WFRP: more Europe than US?
being from the US nd having seen the gaming scene in several states, yeah it doesn't do so well here. D100 based systems in general kinda fall behind really, it's a D20 country for RPGs.

Re: Return of the Lichemaster
It's something to give a read at least once, at least- there's a lot of cool stuff that goes on leading up to the story. that might be the most damning thing about it, kemmler's deal with the chaos daemon, a wizard infiltrating a skaven city and the fight over a holy artefact with unknowable powers ...

So...ignoring our little derailment over the details of the issues with 4th's rulesystem, how's zapp's overhaul coming along?

Re: Warhammer novels, and short stories
I’ve been under the impression Gotrek and Felix were more Battle than WFRP. Could well be because I first saw them in an army book. actually they first showed up in the doomstones campaign (they turn up in whatever the one where they deal with the library/temple thing set in the cliffs is, i forget...

.....there's a dalek in it. a magic-dalek, i grant you, but it's still very clearly a dalek because they had the rights for dr. who minis at the time. there's a later version in a white dwarf if i recall, because it's very much on of those adventures that leans heavy into the "cross over with w...

Re: Your opinion on Thousand Thrones and Restless Dead campaings
it seems like they want to release more of the 1st edition stuff, as soon as they get hold of physical copies to turn into PDF I'd be amazed if they don't have all the 1e sourcebooks. The problem is that you need to sacrifice the physical copy to the great Scanner god to get a proper high-res scan ...

Re: HP Lovecraft
i think the modern "political correct" culture is going to be seen in the same hinky light the all-encompassing racist undertones of lovecraft's era were, honestly. there's so much gatekeeping and virtually no teaching about the reasons behind it (admittadly, sometimes there's very little ...

yeah, no career advancements and focusing on the racial skills ought to work.

The hidden daemons of the mists: A treatise on the history, biology and society of the Fimir
I thought i could hold off on posting about this for the PDF after StS went down, but it's going to need more polish than i expected for that so here you go! Here once again is the article on the Fimir I've been compiling since i learned 4th edition was coming out, built on extrapolations of canon p...

Re: Research skill
The only referent to "record, index and properly file" in the text about Research is that if the library IS in a great state, merely having the skill is enough and no test is necessary. Is this forum only for people who read small tidbits of text of the rulebook and interpret them in the ...

Re: Research skill
Anyway, in The Enemy Within, there are plenty of books. Quite a large amount. Another player, who is a apothecary turned wizard's apprentice, is actively researching these books he has stored on purpose-built bookshelves in their river barge. Use research to track his progress isn't far-fetched. Th...

Re: Ahalt the Drinker
I liked it they tried to do something outside the Big Four, but did it ever gain any traction, is there anything other than the entry in Sigmar’s Heirs? he (briefly) turns up in the 3rd edition tome of salvation if i remember- but i'd like to point out that he's not a chaos god and is just a part o...

Re: Miracles of Solkan
i think adding the +2 damage mentioned in cleansing flame to chaos followers would be properly thematic, personally. That's a good suggestion, but it's already included in Soulfire (the Miracle of Sigmar that I adapted). ah, didn't bother checking the book. maybe skaven then, it'd be a shame to mak...

Re: Your opinion on Thousand Thrones and Restless Dead campaings
i think it's a mess to try and run all the way through (i ran part of it and it inspired my group to go back to L5R of all things for several months) but it's easier to digest for more practically minded players than drachenfels. going through it beforehand for things they might stumble on and repla...

Re: Miracles of Solkan
The problem I see is that with this kind of loose determination for the subject of the effect is that it can degenerate into a "I think..." vs "But I think..." unless you've done something terribly wrong with explaining things to your group, it should be understood that what the...

Re: Research skill
The way it's written renders it useless, since it requires a properly indexed library. if you are in a rush it's more likely to ask a librarian on hand to get your results, and if you aren't in a rush there's an endeavor that renders it useless. 4th has a lot of little things like that, answers look...
