Re: Death on the Reik Update

Yes, you're correct about Grapes of Wrath, however, I got the feeling that a little more may be taken from The Restless Dead, but that might just be my interpretation. I remember us playing TRD instead of SRiK (our GM just winged it :)) We already had two of the adventures from The Restless Dead in...

Re: The logistics (and logic) of Castle Wittgenstein (

I've ... added a large two-story granary. I would question the logic of that given that there are no nearby grain fields. Is it not more likely that finished products, like flour, would be delivered to the castle? Here's what writing in a second language without constant double-checking will do to ...

Re: The logistics (and logic) of Castle Wittgenstein (

1. I think it's easy to assume the Wittgensteins have other income or assets. I don't think Death on the Reik pretends to be a full account of their wealth. 2. The kitchen garden should probably be much larger. Its current size is not nearly enough to support the castle. 3. The Inner Bailey is lack...

Re: Alternate Castle Wittgenstein maps

This map looks great. I am looking forward to seeing your version of the Inner Bailey. Thank you! I've realised since that some of my calculations and scales were off, so there'll be a "second edition" of the Outer Bailey along with the Inner. I'll see if I find some time to work on it ne...

Alternate Castle Wittgenstein maps

I posted this in the WFRP Game Masters and 1st Edition Fans Facebook groups as well, but ISTR not everyone here is on there. Preparing to run the raid on Castle Wittgenstein in Death on the Reik, I looked more closely at the castle map and, perhaps unsurprisingly, found myself dissatisfied with it d...

Crossbows were used for hunting well into the 17th century, too.

Re: Any canon examples of characters using both might and magic?

One of my PCs is actually a little like that, or could evolve in that direction. She's a fighter-type (ex-Soldier, ex-Bounty Hunter, presently Bodyguard) who also has an innate knack for mentally manipulating (especially heating) metal. For most of her life this power has been very weak in practice ...

I seem to remember vaguely that this illustration was once posted on the Strike-to-Stun forum by either Whymme or the author of Zweihander RPG. I might be mistaken, though. Update: Anthony Ragan succeeded where I failed and managed to trace the picture back to artist Jonas De Ro. I've updated the b...

Re: Wanna help me design my next WFPR campaign? (edition agnostic)

I've got no more solid input at the moment, but this sounds like a cool setup indeed! Somehow - no doubt aided by the explicit Stranger Things reference - I'm getting an early Stephen King vibe from it.

Re: Roadwardens and pistols

Historically, as far as I can tell, the major advantage of the fairly primitive firearms of the 16th century vs. crossbows were that they were quite a bit simpler and cheaper to make and thus more suitable for mass production. They were probably a bit better at penetrating armour at close range but ...

The werecats are a good point, and I did appreciate the transparency of that note. I suppose the harmonization thing will mostly be about the "big picture" elements.

I've had a quick flick through of the companion and i'm quite pleased by what i've seen, not least the choice to keep things as they were originally intended or written (in at least one case) rather than keep up with some other more recent version of the Warhammer Fantasy universe. I think it bodes...

I should have checked this before I posted. Thank you for keeping the fire of hope alight. Theo is, of course, right - but the signals are inspired by a famous photo of Aleister Crowley (possibly via Dean Stockwell's turn in the film of The Dunwich Horror ) so if you're looking for inspiration...
