Re: 2nd ed. Opinions on home rules
i think the most important thing would be to limit the degree of countering attacks players get, to encourage them to move around more rather than trying to focus on getting all their attacks out to overcome the other side's defenses, rather than adding to their damage. but another way might be to m...

Re: If looks could kill
it's very straightforward and honestly a little threadbare, so i doubt you'll run into any problems. my only concern is that the right character might try to stay close to the man that hires the adventurers which can halt the adventure (because it requires him to spend a large portion of time alone ...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
When you make many rolls (as you do in combat) Opposed Tests work fine, and this is also why WFRP4 has solved the whiffiness of WFRP2- that's not how 4th solved whiffing with opposed rolls. they solved whiffing by removing the ability to apply multiple layers of failure to an attack and forcing it ...

that still wouldn't break the market, but it would probably result in the investors making a claim for debtor's prison i guess.
well, if it works for your game that's really all that matters in this case.

Re: The Lustrian Bubble fallout
Later rumours spread of the ship returning and the price of the stock skyrockets, the PCs sell, and they make themselves quite a pretty penny. A large stock holder sells all their shares at once, and promptly crashes the entire stock market in the next hour. An investigation takes place where the P...

I'm developing a system that does just that and,...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
I don't think opposed rolls are bad. but opposed rolls with a percentile di(c)e is a recipe for trouble and that should have washed out in the blind playtesting they seemingly chose not to do. Between their overuse of opposed rolling with a bad dice system for it, an excessive system of gaming advan...

Re: The Words of the Law
solkan is pretty much the muscle of the (chaos*) gods of law, serving as retribution for those who violate their tenets, including being a patron god of many witch hunters seeking to destroy chaos. the followers of solkan are apparently not popular with others due to being a bunch of bigots that tre...

Re: Return of the Gnome
I feel like there's more to lose than gain from this, the gnomes had exactly two real traits to them in 1st: they were illusionists and they were very close to dying out. we've lost the first one effectively (unless they somehow slide a new school of magic in there for them, the whole point was it d...

Re: Looking for an encounter idea
I'm not entirely sure how you're going about this, but you could try approaching the chase as a symbolic one, rather than a linear one- having them chase the man through scenes of his own mistakes, or deluded moments of greatness, with them always "catching" him only for him to stutter out...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
The real problem with the "metacurrency" is that it's given out in much to large chunks- 10% is actually a very large amount when you start stacking it, and the game encourages players to built a lot of it fairly fast in and out of combat. the result is there's no actual way to balance com...

Re: Remixed TEW: Rethinking the Tzeentch cults (long)
Honestly, i don't see the appeal of trying to cross the chaos gods over to the old ones when the two are wildly contrary elements beyond that, you seem to have totally lost track of an important element- why are the cultists as individuals backing this? you've made the mistake of looking at the cult...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
That means more that the other combat systems need to be reworked rather than restricting the magical system to being anti-fun, magnus. if the only way to balance magic against the rest of combat is to make people not want to use it, then the entire system is faulty.

Weaponry of the old world (4th ed)
For my first post, a little something i've cooked up since i found the selection of weaponry in 4th a tad lacking. weapons, armors, and qualities for adding some spice to your campaigns, all wrapped up with what i hope is some entertaining fluff! lemme know if you got anything to say about it. or if...
