Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
There isn't any disagreement between us on that part. As far as I understood your messages, the disagreement is rather on the fact that a polytheist society wouldn't realistically forbid the worship of a god of its pantheon, something that you deny while I do not. Am I correct? specifically, i'm sa...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
In a polytheist society, things are simpler. Gods are natural phenomenons that we know and Khaíne wouldn't be considered, alone, as being "a positive part of the political system" more than the rain, the sun, stars, wind, birds, ageing, insects, illness, the moon, birth, air, sea, death, ...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
(That is why the whole "Sigmarite" vs "Ulrician" conflict in TEW isn't realistic neither in a polytheist context: that is a copy-pasting from a purely monotheistic event, the Schmalkaldic War, within a context that couldn't support it). i want to just lean over and point out tha...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
Alleging that "[p]olitics and religion not mixing well [would be] a fairly standard foundation of human behaviour" show that you adopt a pure Abrahamic monotheistic frame of reference on politics, religion or "human behaviour", which is simply absurd to considerate polytheist po...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
politics and religion not mixing well is a fairly standard foundation of human behaviour, so that's not an issue to me. also i've never considered elven colonies as part of the "old world", as that's a human distinction. honestly to the elves and dwarfs it's more of a "new world"...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
i understand you feel you should explore how khainite worship could work, but i want to make it clear that the lore outright states that the cult of khaine is outlawed, full-stop, throughout the old world. the cult itself is simply linked inexorably to ritual murder and anti-social sentiments and re...

Re: Channeling and Moving
you can't really abstractly channel- you have to channel towards a casting cost, then cast the spell when you hit the casting number. once you match the casting number to make your casting roll and add the channeling result to it. if it fails there's an automatic miscast from the channeled magic. so...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?
khaine's cult is forbidden because the cult murders people as part of their faith. it's not a religious position it's literally most of the are murderers and considered incitement to violence. knowing what an edgelord khaine is he probably likes it that way..... In a polytheist society, murderers w...

Re: Death on the Reik Update
i mean it's a tzeentchi cult- those are rarely actually cut and dry. also it's pretty reasonable to leave room for the GM to shuffle matters about.
pointing out the confusion and then just leaving ti in the air as "something of interest" smacks of terrible work on their part though.

Re: Musings on Etiquette
the etiquette talent is one of those things that i feel was dropped into the book without much thought (probably used in some adventure testing to good effect due to the way the group was playing) and then never properly balanced or developed for the game. as something for very restrictive groups wh...

Re: Death on the Reik Update
it's really more of a bit of argument for those playing the campaign once again and using meta knowledge to mess with the cult, really. i guess they wanted to discuss it but couldn't find reason enough to put it in a book...

Re: Totaling bonus damage from SL
With RAW and a defending with a low WS, is the expected value of damage reduction still positive? In other words, would it make sense to choose not to roll for defense basically like in ranged combat? Did anyone do a statistical analysis? It's probably depending on the attackers WS. rules as writte...

Re: Totaling bonus damage from SL
pages 514 (opposed tests) and 159 (calculating damage). the final Success Levels result of an opposed test is the difference between the winning and losing rolls, and damage is calculated based on the final SLs generated by a roll, not the roll itself. if it makes you feel any better, i didn't play ...

Re: Totaling bonus damage from SL
rules as written, the damage bonus is always the difference in SLs between the successful attack and failed defense, so your example would be +5.

Re: Endeavours Talent
It is intended as a shortcut for getting a talent you might want to get without spending a long time climbing a career tree you aren't interested in. it's kind of important to understand that while the trappings of the career system still exist, 4th edition's system is much more freeform in it's und...

Re: Parry question
Keep in mind, if its being used in the 2nd hand without the appropriate talent there is a penalty applied. Even in the case of a shield. The skill Melee Parry removes this negative for shields. to clarify what he said, there's a penalty for using a weapon in your off-hand, and using a weapon with t...

Re: Typos, Missing Text & Errors In 4th Edition Books
There are corrections and changes in the later PDF's, so I'd assume at some point a change in the Printers proofs has got to happen. PDF corrections may not be done to the required standard for proper printing or even in the same format needed, so i wouldn't assume anything of future printings unti...

Re: Typos, Missing Text & Errors In 4th Edition Books
So, by default, Cubicle 7 don’t take the opportunity to fix things when they reprint? I can't speak for their plans going forward, only that at the time of release they didn't currently have plans to make any corrections to the initial books in future printings. i'd suggest contacting them about it.

Re: Typos, Missing Text & Errors In 4th Edition Books
I want to point out there aren't currently Any plans for fixes in any reprinted material, if they happen. so while everyone should definitely let you know about typos, missing text, or straight up printing errors currently out there, it's not possible to be sure they won't be retained between printi...
