Re: 4th ed. combat question - Fighting several opponents
okay, the first thing you need to do is understand: this is going to be messy, the system just doesn't actually think this through. your first option is to home for counterattack damage when defending, either by crits or using the Riposte skill with a Fast weapon. the second option is using feats li...

Re: Basic weapons
so i relegated swords to "no special qualities, no penalties" instead. So you did keep the other qualities for basic weapons? How did that work out? Guess i have to run some test fights to see if it feels "realistic" enough and doesn`t hinder the combat flow. btw: appreciate you...

Re: Basic weapons
I`m mostly concerned about the Sword - defending quality. On the other hand, all enemies using a sword have the some bonuses. So sword vs sword levels out. Not sure how sword vs any other weapon balances out in the long run. Maybe just half the bonus to a +5% ? if you're using advantage it causes i...

Re: Basic weapons
I fiddled with this for a homebrew article i made- the main problem is that different abilities aren't created equal. i tried changing weapon reach and other things but in the end hack and defensive are much too powerful to hand out as freebies, especially defensive, which surprised me when i tested...

Re: 4th - Magic points?
Yeah, I only found this FAQ2 https://www.cubicle7games.com/4919-2/ that only says that it does not mean you don't have to roll a casting test. And admittedly, language Magick is explicitly mentioned in the talent description. Still, I'm rather sure to have read something at least semi-official that...

Re: 4th - Magic points?
No. If you get Instinctive Diction and Perfect Pitch up, you can cast relatively quickly. IIRC there's a FAQ or Errata that says that Perfect Pitch does not aid with Language Magick. But it does not change the rest of your analysis. there was a discussion where that was a house rule, but last i rea...

Re: TOBCON IV
Zoom has proved to be the mvp of lockdown. Hadn't heard of it before. Our club shifted to online play once our community house shut. Tried roll20, but for all the system based mods you can install, it's clunky and slow. Seems to be the way it's browser based, with info going back and forth. The aud...

Re: Eye for an Eye 4E conversion
good, the only things worth dealing with in that edition in my experience were the meat of the adventures themselves so i'm glad people are converting them forward.

Re: Solutions to Whiffing
if everyone's a whifflord, i'd usually just stick on a +30% "hurry up guys" bonus for most fights, where there's not really meaningful plot stakes.

drachenfels doesn't have a melee skill, which seems a pretty significant mistake. (i suggest fencing and parry, myself)

1: if you fail the test and roll doubles (which is normally a fumble) but the other guy still somehow does worse, you hit and have to roll on the oops table. that's page 160. 2: no a dodge isn't an action. well, unless it's s special case by the GM's judgement i guess. it's the same as defending wi...

Re: Who has run both enemy within and doomstones
I liked doomstones more out of the two, but this is mostly because none of my groups wanted to play tew in any real capacity, and the way doomstones is setup lends itself better to groups of mostly unfocused adventurers compared to tew's need for everyone to pay attention to the plot details.

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases
honestly, i'd assumed C7's marketing was largely divorced from the situation in their warehouses before all this viral trash. at this point i'm assuming the actual delivery date is "an utter mystery to us all until it ships" and you're ordring as a sign of good faith.

Re: Minor deities or local forms of major deities?
Both is common, but it seems to also be a matter of perspective. The major cults often say lesser deities are aspects of their major deities. The minor cults at times accept this, but at times see it as heresy. I somehow remember in the old Realm of Chaos it is more or less stated that all deities ...

Re: Minor deities or local forms of major deities?
i don't think there's really one community preference over the other, either. both are fun to use and neither is particularly offensive to the lore. really you can leave it ambiguous in the face of quite a lot if you don't want to pick one. i mean if anything should be cryptic and opaque to the play...

Re: WFRP4 Dodge - When, How, and Why?
the main consequence for using dodge is that you don't have a chance to inflict damage if you win the opposed melee, which is huge. however there's always the possibility that the opponent has a way to reduce your melee, in which case dodge is a good thing to have trained.

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases
the great hospice and collages of magic are both in altdorf last i checked, i fully expect to see lengthy writeups about them and their relations to ubersriek, as well as the entries on the races being focused on how they relate to the riekland in all cases. all their materials have been very focuse...

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases
doing everything strictly from the view of the Riekland, eh? not really what i'm here for. there's a whole empire and beyond to explore and honestly Riekland is the dullest bit of it. Yes, give us stuff about Nordland or Talabecland or Averland or.... I'm 100% behind you on this. But honestly, the ...
