Re: Combat example

Fair enough. Perhaps a good rule of thumb would be that if someone or a group wants to discuss the beastiary's problems, they start a thread called "my problems with the beastiary" and discuss it there? That won't shut down critical discussion or individual critics, and in fact if there a...

Re: Combat example

I have been doing this "level of work" for a long time and in several different systems. (Emphasis mine) That's great for you, but lots of people haven't, and wouldn't necessarily know where to start, especially if this is their first RPG. I personally dislike the D&D style of monster...

Re: Rights to previous editions?

Regarding the 3e TEW, I seem to remember Graeme Davis's comments being non-commital but with a strong implication that they wouldn't be incorporating material from that into the TEW Director's Cut. That would make sense because the 3e version is a completely different campaign set 10 years later. It...

Re: Enemy In Shadows Companion Available

"Sadly" they fixed the issue I raised, but I'm keeping the old version for posterity. There's something humorously Warhammery about high priests being based in the wrong cities! I'm just skimming through, but I already noticed that the list of electors (page 15-16) says the High Priest of ...

Re: Combat example

Sure. Though full disclosure, like OldPlayer I get tired of opening a thread and reading the same few commenters tell me why a system sucks. A problem certainly not limited to WFRPG4 That's fair. I don't think I post enough (especially about rules) to be one of those commenters (again, I hope). I f...

Re: Comparison with Zweihander

Thanks Karanthir! The idea I had about Fox was that he tried to make his wfrp-homemade-clone when FFG was no more supporting the line and maybe he tried to acquire license from GW. C7 did it instead and I've always thought (from comments in some forum or blog I can't recall) that he tried to slip i...

Re: Comparison with Zweihander

The gods in Zweihander don't have names as such. They have titles instead. So not-Sigmar is The God Emperor, not-Ulric is The Winter King, not-Shallya is The Martyr, etc. I presume they are supposed to represent 'universal concepts' to which you can add your own names for your setting. My understand...

Re: Roadwardens and pistols

i'm pretty sure the reason is because pistols can be used one-handed and carried easily, so roadwardens can draw up ahd be ready to shoot without having to get out and steady a big two-handed crossbow. besides, maybe they don't own them? what if it's supplied by the state and they're expected to pa...

Re: Comparison with Zweihander

For all the people claiming that Warhammer/GW is "just inspiration" and Zweihander is "theft", bear in mind that Michael Moorcock invented the Chaos Star and has never received a penny from GW (or any of the many, many others who have used it). They didn't just "file the num...

Re: Combat example

Fair comment regarding less experienced GMs and the need to have some intuition about how to set the level correctly and lack of guidance. You don’t have to do it in details for all creatures. Just the special ones in my experience. If you're doing guidance, yeah, just a few examples is fine. If yo...

Ok, everything has a link now (finally found a couple of missing fan scenarios). Added the Gong Farmer career by Graeme Davis*. Always on the look out for additional resources, so let me know if you find anything not on the list! *I suggest making a couple of minor modifications: Make "No sense...

Re: Combat example

Ok, read this you lazy GMs 😀 complaining on the bestiary: https://lawhammer.blogspot.com/2020/01/trolls-trolls-trolls-trolls.html?m=1 Except this isn't really advice for lazy GMs - it's justification for lazy games design (framed as advice for "lazy" GMs). This is kind of a separate topic...

Re: Troll a la Morceaux: A Warhammer Recipe

Excellent stuff! I'm sure there must be at least one halfling chef who's attempted this only to have it go horribly wrong!

(But just to note, there's some sort of error with the URL: it's auto-inserting "www.windsofchaos.com/forum/" at the beginning, which leads to a 404 error.)

Ah cool. It's always interesting to read these sorts of things. And I have a soft spot for the old 40k Illuminati/Sensei stuff too.

Re: Enemy In Shadows Companion Available

I'm not going to get into a discussion about what's canon and what's not. After 30+ years everyone has their own version of the canon and what sources they accept as canonical, and even people who agree on the broad strokes will probably disagree on specific details. The thing with Boxtree and WFRP1...

Re: Missing: Pamphlet about mutants are people too!

Otto's Printworks is in Apocrypha 2, but there doesn't seem to be a pro-mutant pamphlet - just an anti-mutant one reacting to the emperor's proclamation.
