Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

Here is a still very rough development and structuration of my previous thoughts...: The universe is constituted by two dimensions. One material universe that we all know and one immaterial universe, which is called the immaterium and by many other names such as the warp, the void, the Empyrean, the...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

Are there any published sources that state that the Warhammer Gods of Law view burning at the stake as specifically a human sacrifice? (Rather than just a grizzly punishment for a serious crime). There are really few official sources on Warhammer chaotic gods of Law. The concept was abandoned befor...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

So, here we are, here is the way you argue on your own points... the chaos dwarfs are noted as having mutated, with their sorcerer priests being the most prone to mutation (page forty-seven of the old chaos dwarf army book), and the sacrifices being done for the entertainment of the selfsame sorcere...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

as much as fract enjoys expounding on why he'd like to believe the chaos dwarf god could be lawful, i remain entirely unsupportive. there's nothing to his very long posts but extended arguments to consider his interest without any material to encourage it, and the chaos dwarfs are noted as having m...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

Leaving aside real world history this all started with idea that the Chaos Dwarfs and Hashut could be a cult of law. I think this is preposterous. The example of using Aztecs didn't convince me. Regardless of how it might convince or not convince you (which I feel do not matter at all in itself and...

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases

I found this rather interesting and it took me down a short rabbit hole. We share same interests and like to explore the same rabbit worlds, I presume :) I'm glad to read your researches. Just two points that might complete them: There's no mention of the word in The New Shorter Oxford English Dict...

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases

The correct plural of dwarf (the regular continuation of Old English dweorg) is dwarrows (from dweorgas), later levelled down to "dwarfs" (probably under the influence of the French and Latin accusative plurals, which are commonly in -s ). The latter, "dwarfs", is the plural used...

Re: Beyond The Enemy Within campaign, upcoming releases

Common playable characters' species in WFRP (and their available cultures in WFRP4) are: -Men ( Reiklander : WFRP4; Middenheimer : MCWW4; Middenlander : MCWW4; Nordlander : MCWW4; others : nothing yet); -Halflings ( Reiklander : WFRP4, AEI; Mootlander : AEI; others : nothing yet); -Dwarrows ( Reikla...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

listen, the claims of "mass sacrifices" are based on the exaggerated claims of the spanish priests and are largely considered wildly inaccurate at best or falsified for justifying conquest at worst. which is my point, your arguing is revolving around something that hasn't actually conside...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

i believe he's claiming that an aztec-like belief system would be presumed to be a chaos cult by the existing peoples of the empire and we have to admit they're not exactly the most reasonable and thoughtful country around. i also believe this entire mental exercise about the aztec is kinda silly. ...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

That seems to just displace the source of thinking, but can we say that all those who've played with you would confuse the Aztec culture with Warhammer Chaos, provided you just avoid to use names normally used to describe the Aztec culture? However, if I understand you correctly, as it seems you nee...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

Thank you for your unironic answer. So are you thinking that Aztec gods are Chaotic Gods or are aspects of the gods of Chaos? Do you believe that such Gods really exist in our real world or do you think that Chaos would in fact be unrelated to Chaos gods? If so, is being "Chaotic" not a fa...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

Not sure I buy Hashut being a god of law even within homebrew stuff. Kad'ai fire demons, Bull centaurs, fangs and mass human sacrifice all seem pretty Chaotic to me. Seems like you'd have to write out so much official material there's not much point keeping the name. fractulis is probably not using...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

So the petrification is still related to the resistance against magic, hence against chaos in official publications... Perhaps that it could be said that, in the Immaterium , soul’s desires tend to create chaos gods -desires to get what seem forbid to them, which lead to worship a god whose cult fav...

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

Hashut is the Chaotic God of Chaos Dwarves, designed by Rick Priestley for Warhammer Fantasy Battle and, in WFB, its cultists tend to be petrified.
Its understanding as a chaotic god of Law is, however, homebrew.

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

On Imperial cults, three kind of cults might be distinguished: - public cults: cults organized by the public powers, to honour gods and to ensure their benevolence, to appease their grievance, and to seek their help in favour of the community. All Old World gods are publicly worshipped, including go...

Re: The hunchback of Altdorf

His mutation might make him looks like gargoyles, such as a "stone skin".
(that would allow him to hide in the cathedral)

Re: Is Imperial polytheism realistic?

The earliest men worshiped the Old Ones and were thus polytheistic. Even after the collapse of the warp gates, the winds of change mostly diffuse by the time they reach Nehekhara, so the Nehekharans wouldn't be under the same pressures towards monotheism. The early barbarian tribes would have retai...
