Re: The Thousand Thrones (again)

Hi @Herr Arnulfe i'm resurrecting this old post to ask for similar thing - it would be awesome if you could share the drafts of TTT Extensions that you were working on, especially if there are little chances to have them finished. Sure, no problem, I'm happy to send people the TTT Ex 3-4 draft mate...

Re: The Thousand Thrones (again)

Hi, sorry for posting here so late, but Herr Arnulfe, I have an important question: What happened to the liber fanatica website? It seems to be inactive, such a shame! Is there any way to access the expansions other than the website? The LF site is only down temporarily because the host's payment i...

Re: Liber Fanatica is down?

The hosting company had my old credit card info, and their emails were going into my Promotions email folder. However, I've now updated the payment info, so the LF site should be up again tomorrow.

Re: Why I think combat is less exciting in v4

Some interesting discussions so far - so it seems from what I have read here that maybe there are maybe 2 issues around combat: 1) advantage is hard to track 2) combat is too swingy (so nothing happening per roll in previous versions has become too much happening !!) The Advantage-tracking discussi...

Re: Why I think combat is less exciting in v4

Just treat those as two separate combats. If you’re not in one group, you can’t use group advantage. If the fight had started with the PCs separated, that's probably what I would do. In this case, they'd started the fight together but the rogue stayed behind searching and freeing prisoners while th...

Re: Why I think combat is less exciting in v4

Have you tried the group advantage rules from Up in Arms? I have not yet, but I read several comments that it solves at least some of the issues of the advantage rules. I haven't used Group Advantage yet because it's even more abstract than the core system and we normally use minis for combat. For ...

Re: Why I think combat is less exciting in v4

It does feel like the system would be great, for a video game. Where all the maths is handled off stage. The SL's for the attacker compared to the SL's for the defender, then remembering there's a talent that modifies their SL, and a distracting weapon that modifies the opponents. A lot of seemingl...

Re: Why I think combat is less exciting in v4

I try to roll the NPCs' attacks or defenses first and announce the result e.g. "-3 SL to parry". That way the players have an idea of what number they're aiming for when they roll.

The good folks over at the Rat Catcher's Discord group compiled a list of the PDF changes in a Google doc:

Re: Winds of Magic

Cubicle 7 has done more tweaking on the spells (and other rules bits), and updated the PDF. This is one of those products that benefits tremendously from community 'beta-testing' before going to print IMO.

Re: Winds of Magic

I've only read the Celestial spells and a few of the Lore of Light (one of my players is a Heirophant), but I have to say, very impressive. Designing spells may be one of the hardest jobs in game design. I only designed about 20% of them from scratch, the rest were converted from previous editions ...

Re: Winds of Magic

Very interesting! Do you know who did the writing for the spells? You can blame me for the 128 new Colour Lore spells. :) C7 spent at least a couple of months editing and playtesting them, but it looks like the drafts I submitted were only tweaked here and there. I only managed to playtest a dozen ...

@Herr Arnulfe - you very kindly shared the prologue with my previously which I ran in 3rd edition. I'm now playing through a 4th edition version of The Thousand Thrones and have made extensive use of the first two expansions... Hunger Wood, Smoot and Lord de Trois tower were all highlights of the c...

My credit card was updated last year, but I forgot to give the hosting company the new info. Will do that this week. I've been meaning to contact them about a site backup anyway.

Re: Mutation and Ableism

There was a Witchhunter trilogy of novels from GW that had some useful elements. The main character wasn't a softie, but also seemed driven to do his job correctly. A few times he seemed harsh to the reader, but never didn't make sense for the character and way chaos is presented in the setting. It...

Re: Mutation and Ableism

Perhaps there is a Church of Sigmar (or Shallaya) ritual (requiring a priest of sufficient ability, a quest in and of itself, then payment, etc) that can determine whether or not a deformity bears the taint of chaos or not. And perhaps that person can be given a certified letter from a priest that ...

Re: Mutation and Ableism

I would suggest an element of uncertainty is always possibly best. In the not so great stories about Konrad, the hero had different coloured eyes: is that a Chaotic mutation? It seemed it was but no one called in witchhunters. In a world where there are people who can cast magic but still live with...

Re: Mutation and Ableism

to the best of my understanding, mutant trials are actually pretty informal, and handled by witch hunters as it comes up. so there's probably some general guidelines that might be in that witch hunter's handbook they put out once, but nothing set in stone and those witch hunters are anotoriously un...

Re: Elven Vampires

Morathi and Hellebron have Countess Bathory vibes, using soul energy from blood sacrifice to maintain their youthful appearances. There was also a corrupted wood elf in the Orion novels who kept prisoners in a giant wicker cage to harvest their soul energies.
