Spiked Gauntlet Up in Arms
What do you think about the spiked gauntlet in Up in Arms? Can this be used together with a shield/bucler/sword. That is can I choose to use either the sword/shield/spiked gauntlet?

Re: Offensive melee talents stacking
Thanks for the reply. I also think that dirty fighter is not supposed to stack with strike to stun. However, I wanted to hear others opinion about it. From my point of view there seem however to be several users on this forum (previous thread) interpreting the rules towards damage is indeed to be ta...

Offensive melee talents stacking
With the up in arms inventory, there is something called a sap with the pummel quality (melee brawling) . What happens if a fighter have dirty fighter, strike to stun, dual wielder (with a second left hand weapon) , AND in fighter talent. Using melee brawling does all such talents really stack? Pote...

In fighter vs defensive talents
Can you use the defensive talents shieldsman, riposte, or reversal to get SL bonus when trying to fend off a player trying to go for an in-fight?
Thank you
Thank you

Shieldsman Vs riposte
What happens if player 1 having shieldsman talent use his shield to attack player 2 having riposte talent? Player 2 use riposte and wins the opposed melee test.
Who is the defender here? Can player 1 use the shieldsman talent to gain advantage?

In fighting rules
RAW describe in-fighting and weapon length modifiers as optional rules, p. 297.
Does the in-fighter talent have any usage at all without these optional rules?

Re: Strong back abd strike to stun
Thanks both of you for making this clear to me. I haven't got other examples right now, but your answers would also imply that e.g opposed melee test is not the same as opposed melee/dodge. Talents and traits regarding opposed melee test, will not count towards opposed melee/dodge? Do you have any c...

Re: Strong back abd strike to stun
Thanks for the reply. I understand you inerpret "any opposed strength" as solely opposed strength/strength test. Perhaps you're right, however, I think this is not clear. E.g. the rulebook opens up for using other skills than strength to oppose in grappling (p. 163, grey box). From your in...

Strong back abd strike to stun
Strong back talent gives +1 SL on any opposed strength test. Does this also count on the opposed strength/endurance test when striking to stun?

Re: Strike to stun
1. Yes. The talent bonus is good to have to get extra SL in the opposed Test and thus for more damage, but won’t give you bonus to the Opposed Str/Endurance. And it is Characteristic vs Skill test, typically Skill is much higher than the Characteristic, so the defender can have the upper hand and i...

Re: Strike to stun
Thank you for the reply. I hope you are willing to further share your views and clarify if I'm wrong : 1. You use your strike to stun talent, gaining SL bonus to the opposed melee test. You will then stand a better chance to hit having the s2s talent due to the SL bonus. The hit is resolved as norma...

Strike to stun
Could someone share their point of view on these questions, please: Do you inflict damage if you succeed to hit, but fail the opposed strength/endurance test during strike to stun? Does advantage also apply to the opposed strength/endurance test when striking to stun? Would you let someone use a shi...

Re: Maximum SL bonus?
Thanks for the reply. I did find some ideas for limiting advantage on page 164, but not SL bonuses from talents. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. It seems to me there are no options given in the rulebook to limit SL bonuses. Also, at cubicle 7, FAQ #2, I found an example of a mutant having a bunch o...

Maximum SL bonus?
Are there any upper limit for SL bonuses tied to talents? If combining talents and other bonuses, it is not unrealistic to achieve +8 SL bonus for example before taking your rolled score into account. For example 3x reversal, 3x riposte, and and a swordbraker in each hand, in melee opposed tests. Th...

Re: Talents and SL
Thanks for the reply. Would you allow combining riposte and reversal, e.g. 3 x riposte and 3 x reversal giving +6 SL on successful defensive rolls? This also goes for other defensive talents like reversal and shieldsman. Combining such skills give incredibly small chances of loosing the opposed test...

Talents and SL
Could someone please comment on this example regarding the riposte talent? Grorix the slayer has melee 80 and rolls 50, giving him 3 sl. Magnar, the fencer is the defender and has 2 levels of riposte and melee 60. He uses a foil, giving a target score of 70. Magnar rolls 50. Who wins the opposed tes...
