Re: Maps - which are you using?

As the GM, you can make the current state of the Empire whatever you want. If that's not palatable for you, then just pick a map and declare it to be authoritative by GM fiat. Hence why I was curious as to what "world" people were playing in :D At a basic level, the 4e TEW mentions at lea...

Re: Maps - which are you using?

@Hyarion: Thats all well and good (and an arguement that has been made many a time, and by GW themselves) but: 1. As a GM, we should know the current state of The Empire. 2. TEW takes place at a fixed period in time; settlements disapearing, others appearing and others being renamed makes no sense i...

Maps - which are you using?

Greetings all, I was wondering which maps you are using in your games? To say that, over time, the maps are inconsistent would be understating the issue! I have mostly used the map in v1 of DotR (the large poster one). I have also used MadAlfreds maps (that were converted to digital by Gitzman (and ...

Re: Rules - Shield use

Thanks for the clarity - this system has little fiddly rules all over the blooming place (which I know much ink has been spilt on that subject already). As a follow up (and its more general system based than shield specific) is the +1SL for defensive applied wether or not you succeed on your melee r...

Rules - Shield use

So, I have been playing 4ed for over 6 months now and (more than any edition previous - been playing for 20 years) I am struggling to get a handle on all the RAW. Shield use is the current bugbear. Shields have Shield and Defensive. Are either of these 'passive'? The wording on defensive suggests th...

Re: Reloading

My player has a pistol and they are pretty powerful; I agree to the Reload taking an action - considering, historically, a pistol was fired and done (hence carrying a brace, and then pistol-whipping being a thing).

Re: Reloading

Yeah, it uses your Action. So you can't shoot and Reload in the same turn unless you use Talents. I'm lenient and allow a stationary character to attempt a Reload if they don't take a Move that round, in addition to taking their regular Action. Thanks for the responses; the rulebook (as in a lot of...

Reloading

I am uncertain how reloading is meant to work. I know it is an Extended Test and you reach a certain amount of SL equal to the Reload number. Is this test an action? Or free? The Rapid Reload/Gunner talent can add SL to the reload test and can effectively reduce Reload to 0. I assume you still roll ...

Re: Selling

So, the paragraph should say something like: "Typically, the base cost when selling new goods is half the listed price. When selling second-hand goods it is a quarter of the listed price. Haggling can modify these prices as normal." So, a blacksmith forges a new sword and sells it to a mer...

Selling

Greetings all, I cannot figure out how selling is supposed to work. P.291 has the rules for selling. It states it is the same as buying, but you make money instead of spend. When buying you check availability of a buyer, then make evaluate and haggle tests (I presume that the buyer uses Evaluate to ...
