Re: Magic Resistance

andrevieiramkt wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 5:46 am Can the Magic Resistance talent be used to reduce damage caused by spells like Bolt or Fire?
No, the damage is set by the SL, the SL is, however, decreased by 2 for each level of the talent you have.

Re: Maximum SL bonus?

-and there's your problem. you've snuck in an additional skill check they don't intend, it's hinging on you winning the opposed test using that skill rather than asking you to use the roll to handle the combat and then additionally check separately to see if you passed against your own skill. the s...

Re: Maximum SL bonus?

a quick perusal of the traits that might apply there show that they explicitly work off of winning the opposed roll (which for some reason is called an opposed test in that part of the book but is still about opposed rolls) or in the case of shieldsman, losing the roll. trying to apply a normal tes...

Re: Magic system info

Lets not forget Malign Influences! on p236 When attempting a Language (Magick) or Channelling Test in the vicinity of a Corrupting Influence, any roll of an 8 (representing the eight-pointed symbol of Chaos) on the units die results in a Minor Miscast as the Magic goes wild. So Magick is a bit more ...

Thinking of Tinkering Bleeding to delay quick bleed-out.

Ideas include....
Characters loos a single wound every (TB minus Bleeding Conditions) rounds.
or
An Endurance Roll at Rounds end can reduce a single bleeding condition. (This occurs after wound loss associated with Bleeding).

Re: Maximum SL bonus?

Yeah, and you only get the SL bonus if you *succeed* on your Test (i.e., roll under your modified Skill). Winning isn't enough. This is incorrect. Page 164, under the "Gaining Advantage" paragraph states you gain advantage if you win an opposed roll. It's entirely possible to fail the tes...

Re: Maximum SL bonus?

The limiting factor for Talent SL is XP. Only super advanced characters are going to have 1200 of XP to spend on stacking two talents. Maybe Ancient Vampires, Elves, Demons, and Big Heroes & Villains of the Empire. Just buying Riposte 3 & Reversal 3 is enough to go from State/Skill 0/0 to St...

Re: Armed vs. Unarmed

Funnily enough, a skilled brawler with a few ranks of dirty fighting & in-fighting will do well against a swordsman. We had a brawler in our group who ripped someones head off with a 24 wound critical hit. The rest of the party looked on in awe and horror, and knew they needed pistols if they ev...

Re: When does Halflings' Resistance (Chaos) talent apply?

Resist Chaos is about resisting Corruption. The Halfling auto-passes the first test each session with SL equal to TB, then gets a bonus SL on all successful resistance tests afterwards in that session.

Yeah, I would've thought they'd have applied the discount at their end. It's always easier to get the discount before ordering, rather than afterward. Couldn't agree more with this. Our coupon didn't have an expiry, but unfortunately (or fortunately if you remember it) our old website expired, and ...

Re: Entering a Class, Does It Stick?

In the RAW, the XP costs are for every change. Downtime actions are Class specific. Our home game is a bit different. So far we have played changes in career by storyline opportunity only, in part to save the PC's 100xp, but also to make PC's involved in their careers. To switch career, or even adva...

I think black powder weapons fire too fast already, with an relatively experienced gunner firing every 3 rounds anyway, at career rank 2, and every 2 rounds at higher levels of proficiency. If you are relatively inexperienced, or have a low BS, you just shouldn't touch black powder weapons, the risk...

Already dropped the cash for the WFRP4 bundle.

Adjust things to suit your campaign, and some leads interesting leads in other directions, ignore events that sound boring, embrace events that present new challenges ...

Undoubtedly the Masters of the Magical Colleges are looking at ways a mage might SAFELY channel and store magic in an item for use at the opportune time. Rest assured, if any headway has been made on this front only the highest ranking mages would have access to such items.

IMHO Etiquette talent unlocks familiarity with jargon, language and customs of that social group. An obvious mechanical option would be to have the Etiquette Talent mitigate penalties for working outside your normal class structure (as covered on pp50-51), if you have the right talent. So Soliders u...

For the most part Etiquette rules are forgotten at the table, but I'd like to see them in play more. The character I am grooming for eventual Spy/Grey Order career is busy learning various Etiquette skills so they can blend with any crowd. I think the Etiquette rules are most important in play when ...

On Applying Damage the book says to add your SL to the weapon and attribute bonus. Is the total SL the total from the attacker only or do we total based on the final SL from attacker and defender? So if the players succeeds at a +2 SL vs the defender’s -3 is the bonus damage +2 or +5? Normally this...
