Re: Priests Magic (aka Miracles)

-what do you mean by "my group laughed the idea of playing 4th out of the room"? to cut a rambling story short, my gaming group was fairly cuthroat about abusing game mechanics if they can at all get away with it and 4th ed's system has a number of glaring holes for anyone willing to poke...

Re: Priests Magic (aka Miracles)

Something to consider regarding your first point is that in 4ed there’s no requirement for a priest to have the Miracle talents. You only need 1 career talent to finish the career, so an NPC can have one of the others. I totally agree with Orin here. Additionally, the same argument can be used for ...

Re: Priests Magic (aka Miracles)

Yesterday night it occur to me a mechanic about currying favor, where a miracles caster would need to have curried a certain amount of favour before being able to perform a miracle, and each miracle would have a favor cost. Now, I read your post suggesting something similar :) Did you further develo...

Priests Magic (aka Miracles)

I would like to hear opinions on two points that bother me about Priests. 1) Miracles and how rare they are. I have always envision an Old World where miracles and blessings are a rare occurrence. This has been supported by the lore in the different editions of the game, for example quoting the 4th ...

Greetings all. I'd like to share my most recent undertaking - a 4e conversion of the zany Eureka!, an adventure from both 1st and 2nd edition. You can also download it and some additional resources for free at https://perilousrealm.itch.io/eureka and I hope you enjoy it. This features all new art b...

Re: Combat question and -ve SL

So we just started using the 4e WFRP rules and playing Death on the Reik (DotR) - we played through Bögenhafen using Genesys rules which was interesting, but ultimately not right for the setting (and tangential to this question). We bumbled through the first combat in DotR and aside from completely...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis

As a result, for our last session we gave up on Advantage completely and switched over to 2e combat rules (but keeping crits/fumbles on doubles - more crits is more deadly, and more deadly is more fun!). Instantly the feedback from players was positive; the game ran more quickly & smoothly, and...

Re: Proof of ownership

The question comes because one of my players lost his horse. The horse paniqued and fled (the PC as well). I thought, that it could be cool to do that someone finds the horse and keeps it or sells it. Later, in a village nearby, the PC will recognize his horse. That is why I asked about proof of own...

Proof of ownership

Do any of you know how one did in the middle ages to proof that, let’s say, the horse he rides is legitimaly acquired and it is not just stolen from the nieghbouring village merchant for example?

Re: Criticals

Armour does not fall off your legs or arm when you are hit on you head or body. Simply, no hit locations (like in Warhammer 3d by the way), meaning attacks are narrated by players and GM. You hit the location you descrive you hit. Everything is more abstract. I understand it may not be for everybody...

Re: Criticals

Indeed, I am talking about the optional rule in pg. 301. The “problem” of crit deflection and normal armour rules is that you have 6 hit locations. Say you have mail armour everywhere, that is a potential negation of 18 critical wounds. The same scenario with the rules of pg 301, since you don’t use...

Re: Criticals

I play with the quick armour optional rules. My players cannot negate that many critics without ruining their armours fully, so in my table critics happen a lot. I can tell you quick armour rules solves the negate critics problem and speeds combats a big deal, since you only have to determine the lo...

Re: WHFR 4e - Are Wizards playable?

Forget channelling and forget WP. Maximize Int and language magick and get as many instances of the talent Instinctive Diction as you can. All this and a little bit of advantage and in combat you are going to be blasting enemies by the scores...

Re: Criticals

I am really a fan of random crits that can kill our maim a PC or a NPC, I would not change this for only ocurring once you reach 0 wounds.

Your opinion on Thousand Thrones and Restless Dead campaings

After some trial sessions playing Warhammer 4ed, I would like to embark with my players on a campaign. I am wondering which campaign to run, either The Thousand Thrones from 2nd ed or The Restless Dead + Castle Dranchenfels from 1st ed.

I would like to hear opinions about these to campaigns.

Research skill

Ho do you feel about the inclusion of this skill in this edition? Myself, I think its use is really marginal. It is a great skill in Call of Cthulhu, but in this setting... I have been GM in this setting since the 1st edition and the few times my players have had the need to research a library, or a...
