Re: Resilience and Fortune
You can't use fortune, or resilience points to reroll the result of the the mutation table, it's not a test so neither of those apply. you an use fortune to reroll the casting test that would LEAD to it, but not just the table afterwords. Either way, he might be a little too worried about it. (also ...

Re: There are no challenges for adventurers
There's two things to keep in mind with this system when dealing with large enemies. firstly WS is king and without a LOT of it your other stats mean nothing. you cant make a big clumsy brute in 4th's system because it both loses and takes more damage from the low WS. secondly is that the melee syst...

Re: The two views of Bretonnia
i've honestly never had any trouble with combining the two. the "noble bretonnia" and the "corrupt bretonnia" fold together very nicely once you look at where they come from. Yhe noble bretonnia is the domain of chivalry, young, idealistic knights test themselves to prove their h...

Re: Adapting Age of Reckoning to WHFRP
the story, while not great, was never the main stumbling block. AoR's class balance is- at best, mind- terrible and openly against how many of the mentioned classes work in canon. if you discard the nonsense around classes and the MMO weapon stuff, it shouldn't be a problem to adapt the lesser quest...

Re: Slayers
It's well discussed in william king's "Trollslayer" (or really, in most of the slayer books, but they let gotrek lecture about in in the first one) and in the old but still gold standard "Dwarfs - Stone and Steel" if you can find a copy to read. The general gist of it is this: dw...

Re: Offensive melee talents stacking
because dirty fighting's bonus can only be employed when doing damage, and striking to stun can only be employed when opting to not do damage, i would assume they're mutually exclusive as you would not be striking to stun when you use dirty fighting. addationally, dual-wielding would only apply the ...

Re: Warhammer: The Old World
given we know the new games workshop game will be centered sometime during the three emperors period which is hundreds of years before the current warhammer fantasy RPG, i'd assume this is a period book.

Re: Self-made Adventure I'd Like Thoughts On
the bits of the adventure where the players have something to do are generally organized as though you, the writer, are telling them directly and understand what's going on. regardless of that being true, the adventure will be read by the person running the adventure who then has to explain what you...

Re: Self-made Adventure I'd Like Thoughts On
this adventure is groaningly stupid. that's not criticism, i'm just observing the goal set for the adventure is met. far more importantly (and less smugly), the adventure is at no point written with proper direction for the GM to execute the scenes. you clearly know what your goal is (and i'm making...

should be interesting to see how well this can be whipstiched onto a WFRP campaign, but i'm not gonna be kickstarting anything these days. best of luck to these guys i guess.

Re: Stevedore - Dirty Fighting but no Melee (Brawling)?
don't forget guys, talents give a +1SL on any tests involving them (in this case melee brawling) for each level of the talent, so the bonus is pretty reasonable even without having it as a class skill (and really, do you think stevedores are spending their pay on formal boxing lessons to top off the...

Re: Surprised opponents take less damage
The rules for attacking someone unable to defend themselves are (for whatever reason) described in the rules for the Unconcious Condition, which details that the attack automatically hits the location of the attacker's choice At the maximum SLs possible to score . Melee attacks are opposed rolls so ...

Re: The Red King
well it's not khaine... the only ideas i have is that it's 1: probably from some other fiction he's jamming in for the story or 2: a play on the king in yellow. maybe sneak a peek at what he's been reading recently, get an idea what he's aiming for. also i'm betting there's some "clever" t...

while there is an old story of taal and ulric fighting the chaos gods (and most of the other gods helping to various degrees, i'm not sure who this "red king" is. maybe your GM's alluding to khaine's human cult?

Re: Flying combat
Oh, okay. that's easy enough, there's not really Rules specifically for flying so if the puppet can fly then it just needs to be faster than the elf's spell or start in a position it can intercept. Depending on how you want to read it, the Entangled condition caused by grappling may make the elf fal...

Re: Flying combat
give the limited rules regarding movement, why bother with a flying enemy when you could give a couple enemies slings which inflict stun. since stun precludes the ability to take actions and you are required to take a flght action on your turn not to fall out of the sky. if you're worried you'll kil...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis
Wow, this thread is huge and is a gold mine of competent analysis and experinces about 4th edition. The overall idea I maturated about people playing 4th edition is that bascally NO ONE is playing RAW and house-rule the very fondations of the rules or change it up to it be unrecognisable. Is it a s...
