Re: WFRP 4 analysis

When you make many rolls (as you do in combat) Opposed Tests work fine, and this is also why WFRP4 has solved the whiffiness of WFRP2- that's not how 4th solved whiffing with opposed rolls. they solved whiffing by removing the ability to apply multiple layers of failure to an attack and forcing it ...

Re: Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

I'm just a bit confused because until WSa+WSd >100 then the defender's WS has *not* had a chance to affect the outcome and all we've done is increased the Attacker's odds. After that point, yes, it is a proportional decrease, but that influence on the attacker is more than what you would get by the...

Re: Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

Well, as you asked: Because the defender's WS has already had one opportunity to affect the outcome, parry gives it a second.

Re: Return of the Gnome

I am also very negative about this addition. When I started playing wfrp in 2005 I wanted a fantasy game that was grimdark and as far as possible from D&D. In fact I didn't introduce halflings until years later. I didn't need any homage to Tolkien nor D&D and until I got that halflings in w...

Re: Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

Well, I think it probably doubles-up on the defender's ability. The defender's WS affects the attacker's ability to hit (in either direction) AND the defender gets to parry. Just for me, I feel like if you were to use a table like this you should remove parry/dodge, but then that opens up a whole ne...

Re: Attempt to correct the whiff factor: A ToHit Chart

Is this just the tohit roll target, or does this effectively also include a parry roll for the defender? The most recent idea I saw that I liked was using the combat bonuses from Dark Heresy 2. It's virtually the same identical system but the bonuses for some actions changed. Standard attack gets +1...

NDM: vampire generation

In Night's Dark Masters there are two methods of generating a vampire. The quick method that treats them as a monster, and the full method that treats them as a character that receives the Blood Kiss. What I'm wondering is: are the three vampire careers (thrall, count, lord) only for the full method...

Re: WFRP 4 analysis

When I played WFB once upon a time this was something I always wondered about every time a new edition came out - people would say "GW you've killed wfb, I'm out!" (and no I'm not talking just about the change to AoS, you'd hear this every new edition) And I always wondered why, because th...

Re: Encumbrance confusion

WFRP Companion gives enc per cubic yard for boat hold space. I think it's 4000 or 5000, but don't quote me I could be way off... Edit: m sure it's there, but can't find it now. There are some numbers given for boats though: 20k enc for an 18 yard (total boat length) boat, +4000enc for each yard long...

Ah, have a look at RoS 1e, it has what you're talking about - Waaagh!, exploding heads, the lot. I think all you'd need to use it in 2e is convert the spell levels to casting numbers...(?)

Re: Questions about Rough Night at the Three Feathers

I put the guards between room d and the empty e; but I had them retire at 10 along with everyone else. I think this is how it is intended as when the attempted horsewhipping occurs at 11:30 all the Gravin's men are unarmed and unarmoured. That's true, they are... It would solve the problem if they ...

Re: Call of Cthulhu rpg adventure 'Amongst the Ancient Trees' using WFRP 2e

Well, I think I'll go with clan moulder, and go beyond canon and make this super epic and put The Horned Rat himself in the lake (!). It's only a one-shot, and it will give an exciting climax, and all the mechanics in the text will be satisfied. The players will either keep THR contained or fail and...

Questions about Rough Night at the Three Feathers

I'm thinking of running this one-shot shortly, but after reading it there are a few things I'm not sure about: - what is the ideal number of PCs for it, and how experienced should they be? If the ideal number of PCs isn't 2, but if I run it with only 2, how experienced should they be? - the Gravin's...

Re: Call of Cthulhu rpg adventure 'Amongst the Ancient Trees' using WFRP 2e

This is encouraging. I'm aware of Slann but not familiar with them. I haven't heard of Fimir previously. I'm not opposed to using humans or dwarfs as antagonists, but in this case is like to introduce the players to something that is unique to wh. I did also consider a vampire count, but couldn't th...

Call of Cthulhu rpg adventure 'Amongst the Ancient Trees' using WFRP 2e

The adventure named in the title ("AAT") is in the CoC 7e core rulebook. It sounds great, but I want to introduce my players to wfrp, not CoC, so I'm converting it to wfrp 2e. The big bad is an alien/god that crashed to earth in a metorite prison millenia ago, and has been trapped in a lak...
