Re: Conversion of 2e Paths of the Damned to 4e
Hello Gary, I cannot give you a conversation guide, but converting 2nd ed. to 4th ed. is rather easy. I am almost finished with converting The Thousand Thrones for my campaign. It is mainly converting the NPC stats, while for tests you have to apply some common sense (ie. T-Test becomes Endurance-T...

Re: Who has run both enemy within and doomstones
We sort of liked both. The internet community is quite clear that "TEW" is the better one. Which is in my opinion at least partly true. Though TEW tends to be overrarted whereas Doomstones is underrated. TEW differs in style as already metioned, as SoB is quite linear, DotR is quite sandbo...

Re: Blunderbuss?
Yes, but keep in mind a Blunderbuss isn't a flamethrower either. If something is in the path of the shot, you can't normally shoot in the intended target anyway. Like with shooting a pistol or a bow, if something blocks line of sight (or bullet or arrow...), you cannot target something behind it. An...

Re: The Thousand Thrones (again)
Finally, I wonder at what other changes people have made to the campaign to make it flow better. Skerrigan, I know you have worked on some changes in your campaign, and I would love to have a collection of all your additions (you did suggest making a TTT companion book, after all!). I could also us...

Re: WHFR 4e - Are Wizards playable?
To each his/her own, but in my view wizards are totally playable in 4th ed. I played 1st and 2nd edition, starting in the late eighties. 1st ed. was weird, 2nd ed. was cool for wizards, though in both cases not "balanced". But balancing was never an issue with Warhammer. After all it's WAR...

Re: Damage while defending
Powerful creatures (e.g. some Daemons) do have a Trait called Champion. This Trait allows to do damage even when defending.

Re: 4th - Magic points?
A viable House Rule might be to allow Channeling instead of Move thereby not using up the Action. Maybe this will make it an more interesting option. I am about to try this for my groups grey wizard.

Re: WFRP4 Dodge - When, How, and Why?
"On The Defensive" is an Optional Rule. It consumes your Action, but you can choose a Skill to use defensively and you will get +20 to defensive Tests using the Skill until the start of your next Turn. It is not restricted to the Dodge Skill though, you can also chose Melee (Whatever). Bes...

Re: Minor deities or local forms of major deities?
Both is common, but it seems to also be a matter of perspective. The major cults often say lesser deities are aspects of their major deities. The minor cults at times accept this, but at times see it as heresy. I somehow remember in the old Realm of Chaos it is more or less stated that all deities a...

Re: Critic Damage at 0 Wounds or I have to wait for -1 Wounds?
You do fall unconscious at zero wounds though. But as said, criticals only start when you go below zero. Not instantly. When you reach zero wounds, you gain the Prone Condition and can only crawl (you can only stand up and get rid of the Condition, when you reach >0 wounds). You gain the Unconsciou...

Re: Perilous Realm Podcast :The Thousand Thrones
Great to see that you are continuing the podcast. I really enjoyed it so far, even if it is not always that easy for a non-native speaker to follow. My group is almost at the end of chapter one of the Thousand Thrones and I followed your discussions on a few forums within the last years regarding po...

Re: Imperial Calendar
The Warhammer Fantasy designers were not fluent in German, but they indeed used a Collins' Gem English-German dictionary to invent most of the Empire and Phil Gallagher also used his pidgin German he learned whilst working in a Kellogs factory in Bremen as a student... Why bother with Old High Germa...

Well, I am German, even from the equivalent of the Reikland. And what is the "real" equivalent of Reikland? Actually I've never thought one might be able to show it on the map of Germany. With the Reik being the Rhine, I see the Rhineland as the equivalent to the Reikland. I would point t...

Akrasia on Dicord wrothe that list recently: Alright, magic tier list S: Blue, Red A: Gold, Grey B: Green C: Amber, White D: Purple S: Blue and Red magic both allow you to gain arbitrarily large bonuses to casting, and have strong and varied spell lists. Blue magic can also apply arbitrarily large b...

Re: Removing advantage from the game?
Hi Gman, 1) I haven't tried without Advantages, but we started right from the beginning with the Optional Rule, that you can't have more Advantages than your Initiative characteristic. It works quite OK, though strictly speaking that way a Troll could never get enough Advantages to use the Vomit tra...

All in all excellent time, I really enjoy Solo creatures in this edition. Did you have to modify the stats of the creature at all? I might run this in the future so any suggestions are welcome :) I did not had to modify its stats. It ran quite well for us. Much better that the Basilisk or even a lo...

Re: Combat example
As probably the oldest grognard around, I am also of the opinion the system is indeed fiddly at times that it really hurts (e.g. having like 4 Cool tests if using Intimidate to cause Fear...), but after one year of real game experience with 4th ed. I can say it is more straightforward in many senses...

Re: Combat example
Making the game more accessible is surely a good thing. Absolutely, and that is what irritates me with 4th ed. I really like my RPGs somewhat crunch heavy, but in 4th ed. it is partly a mess with all this this skipping back and forth in the rulebook. I do not want to immagine how tedious this is fo...

Re: Combat example
The combat rules needed more playtesting but outside of that I think the game is mostly fine. I concur with Arnizipal. The system - including the combat rules - seem and are convoluted at times, but after more than a year of regular play I can say that many mechanics work surprisingly well, even th...
